The staff at our Del Mar diamond buyer service are great fans of jazz music. One of our favorite events of the year is the annual San Diego Jazz Party (SDJP), which is held at the the Hilton in Del Mar. The Jazz Party features weekend-long performances by world-class, mainstream jazz musicians, all of whom are popular and renowned recording artists.
The SDJP has an annual tradition of honoring one of our musicians as an SDJP “Jazz Legend” for his or her outstanding contribution to America’s jazz heritage. In 2011, they honored one of the world’s greatest and best known jazz guitarists – Bucky Pizzarelli. Past honorees have included Jake Hanna, Ed Polcer, the late Barney Kessel, trumpet legend Joe Wilder, pianist/composer Dick Hyman, Jeannie Cheatham and the late Jimmy Cheatham.
At the next SDJP event in February 2012, they will honor the highly acclaimed tenor saxophone artist, Houston Person.
